Valerie Endicott
My name is Val Endicott. I grew up in the St.Clair West neighbourhood and live here still. I went to Humewood school and so did my kids.
What brings me joy is working with like-minded neighbours to do our bit to learn about and take action on the climate crisis in many different ways. One key way is to have conversations, engage people’s imaginations with all the positive solutions that will help address the climate crisis while also addressing other crises people face (like affordability and food security).
The teacher in me (retired 2019) knows that honing our communication skills will help us reach more neighbours and make us more confident to press our politicians to take action.
I am inspired by an early lesson in how taking action can make a difference: I remember marching with my parents to protest the proposed Spadina Expressway in 1971. That citizen-lead activism was successful and thus we have our beloved Cedarvale and Nordheimer ravines.
