According to Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation

“The transportation sector accounts for more greenhouse gas emissions than iron, steel, cement and chemical industries combined.

Accelerating the shift to low- and zero-emission vehicles will be crucial if Ontario is to achieve its climate change goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) to 15% below 1990 levels in 2020, 37% in 2030 and 80% in 2050.

To achieve this goal, the Province will need to reduce emissions from vehicles on the road today, and undertake actions to promote the adoption of zero and low emitting vehicles now and in the future.”
